Project Overview

World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) funded RTY in 2024 to build her institutional capacity through reviewing current policies and supporting the development of new and critical policies that strengthen institutional capacity to compete favorably for both local and international funding.

Key Achievements

  • Conducted a capacity needs assessment to prioritize policy formulation areas
  • Developed the third strategic plan (2016-2020)
  • Reviewed Human Resource and Finance policies
  • Developed Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy and Communication Strategy

New Policies Developed

Antifraud Policy Procurement and Disposal Conflict Resolution Safety and Health Volunteer Policy Staff Development Board Policies

Cook Stove Initiative

RTY implemented a Renewable Energies Technologies project in Western Uganda, Kasese district. Working with youth groups, RTY identified and equipped 30 youth with skills in constructing improved cook stoves.

Environmental Impact

  • ✓ Reduce high use of fuel wood
  • ✓ Reduce environment degradation
  • ✓ Reduce carbon emissions

Social Impact

  • ✓ Reduce smoke in kitchens (prevents respiratory diseases)
  • ✓ Create job opportunities for unemployed youth
  • ✓ Improved cook stoves for 300+ households
